What is the Certified Pool-Spa Operator® Program?

 

The Certified Pool-Spa Operator® program has delivered more training than any other program in the pool and spa industry since 1972, resulting in more than 200,000 successful CPO® certifications in 44 countries. The CPO® certification program is widely accepted by health departments. The CPO® Handbook, 2007 Edition, has been updated to include the most current information available, including the addition of metric calculations.

 

Instructors receive comprehensive training and certification to teach the CPO® certification program. These instructors repre- sent every segment in the aquatic industry including operators, health officials, serv- ice professionals, builders, manufacturers, property managers, retailers, and academicians. General Information About the CPO® Certification Program

 

• The CPO® certification program requires participation in either a two- day class (14-16 hours) taught by a certified instructor or our new blended format that combines the online Pool Operator PrimerTM and one day of the Pool Operator FusionTM class instruction
• The CPO® certification program includes pool and spa chemistry, testing, treatment, filtration, maintenance, automatic feeding equipment, government requirements
• The CPO® certification program requires an open book written examination
• The CPO ® certification is valid five years

How Can I Receive Certified Pool-Spa Operator® Training?

 

We understand that there are many demands on your time, so training is now available in several convenient formats to choose from:

 

Classroom CPO® Certification A two-day class that covers 14-16 hours of information from The Handbook (provided) and local codes taught by an NSPF Instructor. This dynamic setting offers direct interaction with an instructor and fellow students. Pass the open book exam and earn CPO® certification.

 

Pool Operator Primer™ Can be the first step to earning CPO® certification or an education in the fundamentals. Online curriculum follows the 18 chapters in The Handbook, which is provided. Successful completion earns a personalized Record of Completion. If you choose to pur- sue CPO® certification, contact an NSPF Instructor to enroll in a Pool Operator Fusion™ class within six months. The Pool Operator Primer™ is available in both U.S. and Metric versions.

 

Pool Operator FusionTM An economical and convenient way to achieve CPO® certification. This one-day class is offered by NSPF Instructors and is often the second day of the two-day Classroom CPO® certification course. Sign up for a FusionTM class by contacting an NSPF Instructor or go to www.nspf.org. Students must present a Pool Operator PrimerTM Record of Completion and successfully complete a Pool Operator FusionTM class to earn CPO® certification.
